• Named OCL All-Star in 2011

• Became the ace of the Post 206 pitching staff last season in his rookie campaign, turning in five solid starts on the hill.

• Hails from a long, distinguished line of Liimatainen athletes who have all suited up for the Barnstable High School Red Raiders, including father Dave who was BHS captain in 1973 and pitched collegiately at UMass-Dartmouth (SMU).

Had 1-2 record on the hill last season for Post 206 and 5.83 earned run average.

• Went 2-1 for BHS varsity in his sophomore campaign, including big win over Needham in state tournament.

• Pitched for Barnstable Braves AAU team in 2007-2008.

• Pitched for Barnstable Little League state champions as 11-year-old and state runners up as 12-year old.

#45— Pete Liimatainen —RHP — Barnstable H.S.

Hailing from a long line of Barnstable pitching standouts, Pete has stepped his game up a notch this spring by going 3-0 in his first three starts for the Red Raiders... staged a phenomenal sophomore campaign in both high school and Legion ball last year finishing second on the team in ERA and second in strikeouts....Pete has worked exceptionally hard at refining his skills and is a very coachable athlete who has quickly made a name for himself by earning the title of Post 206 pitching ace after 1-2 campaign in his rookie season... stepped his game up a notch this spring by earning his first varsity letter as a red raider ... wernt 2-1 with key win over Needham in MIAA Division 1 State tournament... pitched exceptionally well in front of college scouts last summer as a freshman at the Rockland Memorial Showcase... well-liked by teammates and has an upbeat attitude... great command of five pitches and superb offspeed stuff that compliments his hard, biting fastball.

Personal Game Highlights

American Legion Highlights...

• Staged arguably his best pitching performance of the season versus Rockland Post 147 (July 10, 2010) on the road, going 6 strong innings and striking out six batters.

• Picked up first win (1-1) of 2010 campaign with brilliant pitching performance vs. Plymouth Post 40, throwing a complete-game, striking out four allowing no earned runs, one walk and six hits.

• Turned in second straight rock-solid pitching performance and second straight no-decision after five innings of work vs. Norwell Post 192 (June 16, 2010).

• Was fantastic in start vs. Sandwich Post 188 on Friday, June 11.

• Turned in rock-solid rookie campaign on mound for Post 206, going 1-2 with 5.83 ERA and led the team in innings pitched (24.0). Had 12 Ks and 14 BBs.


Barnstable High School  Highlights...

Struck out 7 batters in a dominating, 17-6 win over archrival Falmouth on April 3, 2011, picking up his first win of the season.

Nearly a month later, "Liimo" downed Dennis-Yarmouth on the road in a 5-1, complete-game performance with 5 Ks.

•On May 22, 2011, Pete turned in arguably one of the best performances of his young career, striking out six Bridgewater-Raynham Trojans on the road and allowing just two hits in a complete-game win that enabled BHS to vie for the OCL title.


Took tough, 5-4 loss on the hill for the Red Raiders (May 3, 2010) but pitched superbly in five innings of work with 3 Ks.

Picked up first-ever career varsity win in 4-2 victory over Taunton on May 20, 2010 at home.

Picked up second varsity win in 19-6 shellacking of Needham in the MIAA Division 1 State tournament (6-3-10)
